It is the historic district and the top thing to do in the city. La Candelaria offers a mix of colonial buildings, cobbled streets, colored house, churches, and modern architecture.
Many of Bogotá’s best museums are located in this area, such as the Gold Museum, the Botero Museum, and the Colonial Museum.
You will safely pass through the Plaza de Bolívar, where the most important buildings in this area of Bogotá are located: the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, in neoclassical style, the Palace of Justice, the City Hall, the National Capitol or the Liévano Palace.

Museo Botero
Located in the Candelaria neighborhood. Famous Colombian artist Fernando Botero donated 208 pieces of art to create this institution under the condition that it be open to the public. It opened on November 1, 2000, and is now considered one of Latin America’s most important international art collections.
Markets
The traditional market is open on Sundays in the district of Usaquén, with its range of crafts, and quality, and interesting architecture.
Chapinero area
Located north of Candelaria, it is here that we find the famous Parque 93 and the T, G and zona Rosa zones with its many restaurants.

Museo del Oro
The largest collection of pre-Hispanic gold in the world can be found in the Gold Museum in Bogotá. The building's galleries are the setting for a huge permanent exhibition on Amerindian goldsmithing, through which you can discover the habits, beliefs and culture of this mysterious people.

Monserrate
Overlooking the city at an altitude of 3,152 m, the Cerro de Monserrate offers a beautiful view. It is located at 3,172 meters above sea level and overlooked by a basilica, a place of pilgrimage and meditation. There are 3 ways to reach the top to Cerro de Monserrate: you can take the cable car or the funicular or hiking. You will be able to enjoy the best views and several activities including the view of Cerro de Guadalupe, which is next to Monserrate.
On the top of the hill is the sanctuary, with a figure of Christ for 400 years old.
And outside, souvenir shops and some excellent restaurants.

A statue of Simón Bolívar sits in the center of the square. It was one of the first public monuments erected in Bogotá. It makes an excellent vantage point for the various architectural styles in the square. Here there are government buildings and places of historic importance, and restaurants with local food.
